Cloud Hosting Journal on Ulitzer
Roundarch and Varian have announced the reopening of The Varian Experience, An Online Event. This online experience augments the traditional trade show experience by taking it to an entirely new level with a rich landscape of information, resources and solutions built upon an updated technology framework, and a cutting-edge hosting solution.
The Varian Experience is an interactive digital world featuring an abundance of application-specific research data, animated product demonstrations, and a digital kiosk where customers can pick up the new Varian Consumables and Supplies Catalog.
“We wanted to completely rethink the way Varian communicates and interacts with its global audience. We used our comprehensive understanding of many different technologies to create an immersive and rich site that revolutionizes the entire interactive experience,” said Saurab Bhargava, engagement director at Roundarch.
Updates to the latest version include:
- Utilization of Adobe FLEX and Flash technologies to deliver an engaging multimedia experience, including a mix of video, 3-D animation, images, and text.
- Enablement of multilingual content with the inclusion of French, Spanish, Japanese, and Chinese content, easily selectable by the user and delivered real-time through the Adobe FLEX technology – one of the first of its kind in the Adobe FLEX community.
In addition, the use of the Amazon EC2 Cloud solution has already yielded several benefits, including the reduction of costs through needs-based content delivery and optimized application performance through Amazon’s global content caching and delivery mechanism. “The ability to localize and optimize delivery of our content at a global level has taken The Varian Experience to a new level of reach that allows us to more deeply connect with our customers around the world,” said Taia Ergueta, vice president, marketing, Varian, Inc. "The enhanced Varian Experience brings several new product launches to the desktops of the users. Customers have the opportunity to take a closer look at our technologies to see how they can be used to solve problems in many application areas."
Since this launch, site visits and average page views have more than doubled and the customer bounce rate has dropped by over 90%, further demonstrating the benefits of a truly global and immersive experience.
