It's Complicated - Choosing the Right AWS Services
Without a clear strategy for cost control and an architecture designed with cloud services in mind, costs and operational performance can quickly get out of control. To avoid multiple architectural redesigns requires extensive thought and planning. Boundary (now part of BMC) launched a new public-facing multi-tenant high resolution monitoring service on Amazon AWS two years ago, facing challenges and learning best practices in the early days of the new service.
In his session at 19th Cloud Expo, Michael Moran, a Senior Architect, TrueSight R&D, at BMC Software, will share those lessons learned and how to balance cost control with the many choices of service, storage, and compute paradigms.
Michael Moran is a Senior Architect, TrueSight R&D, at BMC Software. An entrepreneur, a leader, and an engineer; four of the last five companies he has been a part of have been successfully acquired. Michael has more than 15 years of experience building teams and scaling software, balancing both passion and pragmatism.
He is currently responsible for the definition and management of the architecture that supports BMC TrueSight Pulse, a multi-tenant SaaS based monitoring system running on Amazon AWS that has been in use for over 4 years and has hundreds of customers.
Michael also represents BMC at developer focused meet ups and conferences where he shares his and the team's experiences with micro-services, use of AWS and continuous delivery based development practices.
